For almost 10 years, I served as a board member for the Coffee Quality Institute, a non-profit with a mission to “improve the quality of coffee and the lives of those who produce it”. It has been a huge honour and fulfilled my personal, profound need to have meaning in my work.
In fact, one of the most gratifying aspects of coffee for me is knowing that the work I do has meaning – I couldn’t pursue a career unless it did some good in the world and enhanced global connections.
Now a time has come when I need to focus more intensively on my own projects, and leave the stage to others who have bandwidth to focus on this incredible, worthy, volunteer work.
With gratitude for what it has brought to my life, I thank the Coffee Quality Institute for their dedication and devotion to coffee producers the world over.
